Very recently the Man-of-the-House appeared at the back door cradling a ball of fluff with a look that said 'Ah Em, look what I've got......I had to rescue it from a loveless home'
How could I say no?
So, may I introduce Holly The Christmas Kitten

But you see we already have a big cat, two dogs, two lizards, a fish and two children!
There have been some initial settling in issues. Lots of hissing and spitting from the big cat. Some stalking and a murderous glint in the eye of the small dog. The big dog, however, is as cool as a breeze. Ollie seems to have adopted Holly the teeny interloper as his own and is keeping the other animals in line.
Actually, I've had to stop this crazy little critter from chasing our normally fearless terrier around the house. The brazenness of youth ;o)
Needless to say there are lots of mad charges, giant leaps, tumbling and exploring.

It was highly entertained when she repeatedly tore around the living room at break neck speed, along the piano, the backs of the furniture before finally leaping with reckless abandon from the settee directly onto Him-Indoor, who apparently makes an excellent springboard to the rocking chair. He was not quite so entertained!
Of course my time has come too.
The universe must have balance.
Yes - Holly loves my knitting.
Tonight she chewed through my working yarn three times.
Not a good start to our friendship.
Happy weekend all!

Edited: Name suggestions would be appreciated please, she arrived as Holly but big dog is called Ollie and the name confusion is all getting too much for him...

Oh she's lovely! How I wish cats didn't make me sneeze :-(
ReplyDeleteNoelle? I'm no good at names!
I want! I'll swap you for a parrot?! What about Mim? I like that name... Or just call her Kitten!
ReplyDeleteLove you

Hey Em,
ReplyDeleteJordan just ran in the house to tell me he scraped his eye on a tree limb. Apparently it wasn't very badly because when he saw Holly he was fine ;) He thinks she's very cute. I do too. But I am a cat lover!! We've been planning on adopting a kitten soon. We can't wait to have a cute cuddly one of our own ;)
P.S. What is it with kitty's & yarn?
P.P.S. Kitty name--Maggie? But I like Mim or kitten as well. Kitten is really cute! We had a cat we called Miss Kitty ;)
Hope all's well in your world.
♥
Jess

ps: kitty is adorable. she has the sweetest polka dots. how about dot?
What a cute kitty! My oldest cat hissed and spit a lot when younger kitty came into the house, but now they are like sisters. Which means they still hiss and spit a lot but there is also a lot of affection. (I have 2 sisters. I know.)
ReplyDeleteBig kitty is named Nutmeg. She is also a Christmas kitty so I named her not only for a Christmas spice but because she was nuts. (She's a mellow nine-year-old now). She's a black and white tuxedo kitty.
Little kitty (who actually is a 12 pound 7-year-old) is named Melody because she 'sang' all the way home when I got her. She's a tortoise-shell tabby.
I think you should stick with Holly!
Sorry for delayed reply - thanks for your comment over at mine! Daisy blanket on a bit of a go slow at the moment! Kitten is very cute! Our 2 have stayed pretty cute even at 13, just shred a bit less of the furnishings now! As for names we have a track record of daft names for cats - Janey (my fault, aged 3!!!), Supercat, Florence, Zebedee and Brian (no prizes for guessing where they came from - my Dad drew the line at Dougal for a cat!), Columbus (as in explorer, kept going on long wanders), Samson & Hercules (brother & sister, not brothers as we were promised!) and the current siblings - Basil and Jemima (Basil - the great mouse detective, hubby's idea, Jemima - as in puddleduck, cos she has a wonky walk!). Oddly they've all kind of fitted their names - bit like children, I think they 'grow into' them! x
ReplyDeleteHi, just found your blog and love the kitten, we have 5 mad cats, used to have 7 but the 2 oldies passed away.
ReplyDeleteOur real children are all grown up so they are substitutes and we call them out babies, sorry, I know we're mad. lol
Pop over some time and take a look at them all.
